Aloha! As the 2015 summer comes to an end, The Global Edge took some time to celebrate Hawaii Day in the office with a luau! The office gleamed with flowers, palm trees, lanterns, grass trimmings, and colorful vibrant leis!
Hawaii Day is also known as Statehood Day which is celebrated annually on the third Friday in August to commemorate the anniversary of the 1959 admission of Hawaii into the union.
Hawaiian music filled the air as we devoured on pulled pork sandwiches, and chicken breasts with a tropical Hawaiian marinade that was complimented with Asian BBQ rice. The meal was complete with delicious colorful fruit, sparkling punch, and pineapple upside down cake!
The office was asked to dress in our most festive attire for a chance to win a special prize. Kathy Eberwein would be the judge. It was on! If anyone knows us, you know Global Edge loves a challenge! And we usually come out on top (wink).
There were four teams, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, and Lanai all which are islands of Hawaii. All the teams participated but only one could take home the prize! This year team Oahu was the winner. The team members wore grass skirts, bracelets, neck leis, flower hair pins, and costume coconut bras (over appropriate work attire of course). The reward- ½ day off the Tuesday after Labor Day! How sweet it is!
