October is a bustling month filled with crisp air, changing leaves, and Halloween candy on grocery store aisles. However, this month is more than just pumpkin spiced lattes and costume preparation, it’s a month to recognize a devastating disease affecting thousands of Americans each year: Breast Cancer.
The Global Edge supports the campaign that Breast Cancer Awareness Month has, which is to increase awareness of the disease. With 1 in 8 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and an estimated 42,260 deaths (41,760 women and 500 men) from breast cancer in 2019 (cancer.net), it’s necessary that men and women become more aware of the disease and highlight the importance of breast awareness, education, and research.
With social responsibility being one of the core values at The Global Edge, and being a woman-owned company, we understand the significance supporting such causes may have.
Devynn Dayton, an employee at The Global Edge, has a mother who is currently battling severe breast cancer. She said, “I’m glad to be a part of a company that recognizes and supports causes that are near to their employees’ hearts.” She continued by saying, “Though the process of my mother battling breast cancer has been long, painful, and emotional, it’s encouraging to have a community who is so supportive.”
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a worldwide annual campaign taking place from October 1st-31st, involving thousands of organizations, to highlight the importance of breast awareness, education and research.
